Nuclear materials emit radioactive particles like X rays and gamma rays at different energy level, in order to detect, locate and identify those particles, detectors based on scintillation crystals were commonly used. When the particles hit the crystal, it coverts the amount of energy released in the collision into a wavelength of light, then a sensitive light sensor coverts the light into an electrical signal, and the electronics process this signal further, we will then know the details of particles struck the scintillation crystal originally.
Epic crystal manufactured various kinds of scintillation crystals of NaI(Tl), CsI(Tl), LYSO(Ce), GAGG(Ce), CdWO4, LaBr3(Ce), CeBr3, etc. And we are able to fabricate these crystals into linear or 2 dimensional arrays. The scintilation detector modules are assembled by coupling with light sensors, such as photo-multiplier tubes(PMTs), silicon photo-multiplier(SiPMs) or photo-diode arrays(PDAs).
